I also added diced tomato to mine, so diced tomato + ketchup comes pretty close to tomato sauce.
You should, of course, really substitute it for tomato puree or sauce.

sorry to many bad memories of grandparents putting ketchup on noodles and calling it speghetti. but the recipe does sound good espcaily with meat involved.
Plus when you throw in the extra tomatoes, stock and Worcestershire, it tastes like you've been slaving away making your own tomato sauce from scratch
Oh I have those bad memories too, trust me. Except mine was topped with mozzarella,and no, that didn't help either
